Best Mixologists:
The Met Bar - London (The Metropolitan Hotel)
- The barmen are not only very cool guys, but they can mix you a cocktail with intriguing ingredients like infused syrups, ginger and chili without being too pretentious. They drinks may sound complex but I have never had a bad one there.
- Colin is world-renowned for being one of the best bartenders in the world mixing champagne cocktails for celebrities and socialites alike. Also the only bartender I have seen to incorporate fresh roses in his drinks.
- You may have to go through the secret door in the back of a phone booth in a hot dog shop, but once you are inside they mix some truly potent old-fashioned cocktails. The Bacon Bourbon drinks are not great unless you really love bacon. Reservations are taken at 3pm each day by phone.
The Rose Bar - NYC (The Plaza Hotel)
- Most people think of the Oak Bar when they think of this legendary hotel but the new lobby lounge Rose Bar has a great seasonal menus. My favorite is summertime's Cucumber-Kiwi Gin and Tonic. Wednesday nights are the best nights, when the fabulous, fashionista under-40 set decend upon it in support of classic crooner Michael Fredo.
