Miami

The first time that I visited MIA, it was for Winter Music Conference 2008. One hell of a way to be introduced to a city. I was actually sort of disappointed when I went back and realized that South Beach isn't a 24/7 rave at every hotel on Collins.
WMC rages on at the end of every March and without a doubt I would suggest going to Miami during this.  But don't take my word for it, check out my friend's show ¡GLOBAILE! the WMC episode: http://www.globaile.com/episode.php?ep=5&part=b

When I think of Miami I think about clubs, bottle tables, parties, sweet hotels, beach and really small bikinis. Here are some must sees:

Nikki Beach: The brunch buffet there is awesome and you can get pitchers of mojitos and sleep off your food come on a bed in the sand or dance it off when the DJs and live sax guy start up.

Most Zen but also most expensive hotel: The Setai. Ever since I saw a fashion show there over the pool DJ'd by Sander Kleinenberg. I was sold. Such a great atmosphere.

Other great hotels: The Gansevoort South - sleek and modern like the W next door but a bit more character.  I don't like the original Gansevoort in NYC so much because the clientele is a bit laden with posers but if you are in Miami, I guess you already are expecting that so it's fine.

Loews: Luxury but more affordable than others and right in the middle of all the action. Also I stay here during WMC to have a bit of sanctuary from the drunken insanity since they are the only ones on the strip without club nights.

Greatest hostel: Deco Walk - I once through a party on their roof top right in the heart of the art deco district right near all the bars. It is modern, clean, hip decor and the staff rocks! By far the greatest choice by the beach  on the cheap. This place is also next door to Ocean's 10 Bar: Home of the largest and most lethal cocktails ever.

Best club: Space (downtown) every DJ worth dancing to spins here and show up late so you can dance on the roof and watch the sun rise!

Lincoln St Mall is good to cruise for restaurants, but Washington St is the best strip for fun little bars!
